Justice for Mistreated Oregon Employees
If you are looking for a lawyer that understands the law, listens, zealously advocates, and treats you like a team-member in your fight for justice, then look no further. Whether you’ve been discriminated against, retaliated against, harassed, wrongfully terminated, denied medical/sick leave, or otherwise faced a work-related issue, you’ve come to the right place.
Sharia Mayfield, an Oregon native, received her English degree (B.A.) from Stanford University at age 20, and then received her law degree (J.D.) from Georgetown University Law Center, graduating cum laude. While in law school, she worked as a national security and intelligence advisor in U.S. Senate. After law school, Mayfield moved back to Oregon, where she worked for the Oregon Department of Justice, handling an array of cases in both the Trial and Appellate divisions, with a special interest in employment law. Realizing her passion for employment law, Mayfield moved to the private sector, where she made junior partner at a local employment law firm at age 27, handling dozens of cases from client intake through resolution. She has handled administrative cases, State appellate cases, and even Ninth Circuit cases, with extensive oral argument experience. Seeking wider opportunities, Mayfield practiced shortly in insurance defense, before settling into business law. She currently works at a business law firm, while operating her more focused side-practice, Mayfield Law Office, LLC.
Because she prides herself in giving her clients the compassion and attention they deserve, Mayfield does not take a “quantity over quality” approach to her practice. Instead, she approaches her limited cases methodically and confidently, with a think-outside-the box approach to her legal arguments. Given her experience as a former employment law partner, Mayfield assesses and explains the risks of different possible routes, ultimately focused on achieving the client’s objectives. She is a seasoned public speaker, whether in the courtroom or outside. She has appeared on CSPAN and Fox Business, has given multiple CLE’s (continuing legal education lectures), teaches an evening course at the local law school, and is a published author of a civil rights book entitled “Improbable Cause.” She is willing to take calculated risks and cases that other attorneys might turn away. In her free time, Mayfield enjoys hiking, running, and writing (Sci-Fi, not legal briefs).
